Well...it's a dark and drizzly, but grand and groovy...zippity doo dah day in the canyon this morning and just about now we should be in rush hour traffic going through Nashville...heading for our umteenth honeymoon and on the way to explore the Florida Gulf Coastline to see if there's a little vacation paradise on THAT side of Florida because the Daytona area has gone to the pigs...pardon my french...hahaha
But no, instead of riding along in my squeaky clean black squad car singing "Oh we ain't got a barrel of money...maybe we're ragged and funny, but we're travelin' the road, sharin' the load...side by side"...here I set on 2 big fluffy pillows trying to appease my back and left hip so I can type this blog...and the old geezer is snoring peacefully about 8 feet from me through that bedroom door....for the love of PETE!!!
I'm going to try to remember to post this question again at the bottom of the blog...but in case I forget...Those of you that know the Florida Gulf side well...what are your favorite SMALLER towns along the gulf coast...?
Well 46 years ago this morning..I woke up in a little cabin in Aurora, Kentucky..staring this old geezer in the face for the first time in my life..hahaha We had planned on spending the few days Billy had on leave from the army in the WigWam Villages around Cave City, Ky..but it was a bad weather night the night we got married..with a little mixture of sleet in the rain..so we just stopped off in Aurora and went on the next morning.
You know..come to think of it..I'll bet our parents were frantic as all get out..with us starting off on our wedding night in that bad weather..It's funny how when you're so young and in love you just don't think of things like that..and there were no cell phones way back then...gads DIAL phones were probably still being used..hahahaha..but they didn't even get a call when we stopped for the night...gads I hate that now that I think of it...
But I'm tellin' you what...we have been blessed beyond words and I am so SO SOOOOO very thankful for all the blessings in my life...NOW to get a grip on my mustard seed charm and get me a son-in-law prayed up and a daughter-in-law and get this old geezer back in my church pew with me and I'll be like Ellie May Clampett..a goofie gander millionairess living a storybook life in LaLa Land...shall we pray...
Boy I had I guess..my first real nightmare last night and I HAVE NO CLUE what made that happen...We went to bed about 10:20pm and I was asleep fairly quickly...because Billy woke me up at about 10:50 to get me out of this nightmare....but I dreamed we were in bed and heard a noise out the bedroom window..so Billy got up and looked and the window just flew open and this MONSTEROUS FOGGY/ROARING WIND..just grabbed hold of him and was pulling him out the window...I tried to jump up and pull him back in and these 2 hands just came up out of the mattress and grabbed me at the waist and was holding me back...and for some reason, I dreamed Kim was spending the night and was on the couch watching TV so I was trying to call to her and couldn't make my voice make a sound...so I was able to break free and get to the window where I last saw Billy and couldn't find Billy in the foggy wind so I ran to Kim...because now..you have to know Kim...Kim is the kind of woman her brother used to describe...he used to say he wanted to find a woman who could help change the oil in the car and get grimy from head to foot.. but still clean up to go out and stop traffic with her beauty and if they ran into a bad gang...HE could take the 2 on the left and SHE could take the 2 on the right hahaha...and that's Kim...She and her ex were in Brazil and were attacked on the beach by 4 guys and she was able to break free and get away from the 2 that had HER down in the sand...while her ex was beat black and blue....but anyway...in my dream I ran to Kim and was trying to tell her a weird wind had abducted dad out the bedroom window..and I still couldn't talk so I was making a sign in the air to call 911...and she was dialing her cell and heading for the bedroom when Billy woke me up.....GOODNESS GRACIOUS...66 years old and my FIRST really bad nightmare....THAT was WEIRD...
But do you know what? I THINK I know why I had that nightmare...the night before we had watched a movie called "Identity" or something like that...and it was made in 2003..but it was one of those old timey..spooky movies where about 10 strangers were stranded on a stormy night...in a little deserted motel on a lonely road...and there was a serial killer amongst them...and the hands in the mattress ..holding me down..was my bad BACK...hahaha because I'm telling you...that rascal STILL is giving me a hard time...
I played piano at church yesterday as usual...and did fine at the piano stool...but when it was time to get up and walk to my pew...I had a hard time straightening up...so last night I just set down on the front pew...hahahaha and even then...I had a hard time getting up and to the piano for the invitation...
Well...where's the warm and FUZZY this morning? hahahahaha We NEED some warm and fuzzy as often as possible...
Let's talk about my emails...Kim is always telling me I should share some of my emails and private messages because I'm telling you the truth...I get some of the most heart warming emails you ever read...and they come from all over the world.
Now we've had about 3 or 4 that we couldn't read at all because they were in a foreign kind of 'writing'..so Kim finally put a translator on the blog....Billy said he was just almost sure one was Korean and I forget what he thought the others were... But the ones we can read are just absolutely wonderful and often bring tears to my eyes.
SO SO SOOO many people tell me what a difference this blog makes in their lives and how they'll be in a bad mood or something will go wrong and they'll think "How would thekatydid handle this" hahaha THAT IS SOOOOOOO SWEET....And then when I think I'm talking too often about how to make our homes homey...I'll get emails that say "I can never read too much about how to make my home homey. Your blog always motivates me to want to do better" Some say "I can't start my day until I've read your blog"..
Now to tell you the TRUTH...I HAVE NO CLUE why anybody reads this blog....I don't read ANY blogs myself...except this one to proof read and then Kim will sometimes STILL find mistakes later"
And on the issue of 'what would thekatydid do'....I'll tell you the truth...When "I" come up against something and I don't know how to handle it...I absolutely and honestly say to myself "What would JESUS do"
Now I'm not one of these people you'd call a bible thumper or one who blurts out scripture every time the occasion arises....It is MY THEORY...that we should preach the gospel always...AND IF NECESSARY...use words.....meaning...we should be walking the walk always and if we do that..we don't have to DO that much "preaching" because folks will see how we live and how content we are and they will want that for themselves....and honestly to me...folks that DO that...carry a bible to the grocery store and blurt out scripture at every breath...are just mainly turning folks OFF and not ON....SOOOOO MY MAIN GOAL IN LIFE IS... to just be 'real'...admit my faults and always try to do better...so that's how "I" decide right from wrong...and deciding right from wrong isn't that difficult for me...and hopefully...it isn't for you either.
I'd LOVE to be a life coach...and help more people live a life in LaLa Land...and living in LaLa Land doesn't have anything to do with income or how big or expensive your home is or how fancy your car or furnishings....it has to do with how you THINK...
I'd love to have a set down with the couple I wrote about a couple of days ago...she was in the hospital for major surgery and woke to find him on the internet at 1am on a site he shouldn't BE on...now in MY opinion...men like that aren't worthy of takin' up some of the air WE need for ourselves...That would be a no brainer situation for me...he's trash...dump him and don't look back...AND before you DO THAT...take him for all he's worth...let him work 4 jobs to get his feet back on the ground..and that will help keep his mind occupied with other things....
Oh goodness....we almost went into warm and fuzzy and ended up on a rant...hahahahaha I'm going to get off and we'll try this again tomorrow.....Peace and love from the canyon and I love you all gobs..and thanks SO SO much...for stopping by....this has been a bird's eye view of the katydid and until next time...you are loved...
This is a pic of the WigWam village in Cave City, Ky near Mammoth Cave..where we spent our honeymoon in 1967...it's still open for business and there's another one in Arizona I think....this is SOOOOOOOOO neat...we need to go back there this spring for a weekend getaway...

Wigwam Village Motel #2
Cave City, Kentucky
"Sleep in a Wigwam," the sign promises. And you won't be disappointed. This Wigwam Village Motel is one of a very few surviving "teepee-style" motels from Tourism's Golden Era (today, we thankfully live in the Cubic Zirconium Era). It was the first, built in 1937 by Frank A. Redford, who found his inspiration in authentic Sioux Reservation teepees and ice cream cone-shaped buildings popping up along highways.

Fourteen wigwam uwnits are arrayed in a semicircle, facing the a larger gift shop and guest registration teepee. Steam Heat, tile baths, cable TV, large playground, picnic tables and grills, no pets allowed.
Owner Ivan F. John is an enthusiastic booster of the wigwam experience. He told us the property sits over a potential sinkhole, so a cave (or cave-in) attraction may be somewhere in the Wigwam's future.
