I got to thinking about the simple chair or chairs that we all have in our homes and of all the many kinds and sizes of chairs and I just got to wondering, "Where in the world did the idea of a simple chair come from?"
Many, many generations ago, even way back to the cave man days and beyond, folks just used the ground or a big rock to sit on. So who in the world and 'when' did chairs come about? Inquisitive minds want to know these important things.
Chairs date back to ancient times! In fact, it's said that chairs almost outdate history. WOW! And while they started out as very simple objects. We now find chairs in every conceivable size, style, color and material.
In ancient times, chairs were used by Egyptian Royalty. Greek chairs date back to 600 BC! Now that's a long way back!
In ancient times, chairs were only for the very privileged. And many places housed only one single chair and just for one particular person of honor.
Today, a chair is one of the most basic and most needed pieces of furniture in our homes. And we've gone from having one chair for one particular person of honor, to chairs for everyone in the home and extras for when visitors stop by. But at least in most homes, we still have what is lovingly referred to as "Dad's Chair".
