I've also heard that if you cut both ends off of an onion and put it in an empty jar and place the jar next to a person that is really sick with the flu, that the onion will be black within a day or two from the bacteria in the air around the sick family member.
But do you know how I'm always telling you we get weird things in the canyon like broken legs and cracked ribs and this and that...but that I can't tell you the last time we had a cold or the flu? Weeeeeeeeeeeell for as many years as I can remember...I've had 2 onions setting in a bowl on our kitchen counter...right back in the corner beside the fridge...and I KEEP them there...not because I already KNEW about this healing benefit...but because we use so many onions. I always buy Vidalia or Sweet onions...and we have onion in some form at almost every meal.
Now SURELY my onions aren't contaminated...but they are all cooked before eaten.
This onion story....take it or leave it....I'm going to take it as gospel...what do I have to lose?
Research suggests that these organosulfur compounds in the onion family members also have anti-inflammatory actions that protect against osteoarthritis and ward off infections. When we eat the organosulfur compounds and glycoproteins in onions they work together with other micronutrients to improve immune function and to prevent disease. In fact, when onion intake was scrutinized in a case-controlled multi-country study, the highest consumers of onions had less than half as many cancers compared to people who rarely consumed onions.
- 56% reduction of colon cancer
- 73% reduction of ovarian cancer
- 88% reduction of esophageal cancer
- 71% reduction of prostate cancer
- 50% reduction in stomach cancer
Take it or leave it....this is it for today....
I'm still stuck in the canyon...I'm on week 81/2 :-/ I THINK 2 weeks and 1 day and I get my walking brace and then WEAVER CREEK AND MASSAC KOUNTRY KITCHEN....HERE I COME! And I'm going to walk every inch of this canyon just as soon as I can......
Peace and Love...I love you all gobs and thanks so SO much....for stopping by....
