He warns us and warns us that we need to slow down and get our priorities in the right order. Take time for church and
family and all the big/little things that really matter....but do we listen?
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! And do you know WHY we don't listen....? Because we think WE rule the roost in each of our little worlds and we'll have things OUR way or NO way and everybody else can take a hike or like it or lump it because it's OUR life....right?
But then God's watching all of this you know...and we tend to forget that....that He's watching and listening....and He see's and hears our attitudes and finally...He just says "OK KIDS...ENOUGH! ENOUGH! ENOUGH!" "I'm going to send you a little early Christmas gift from Me to you for MY birthday...and here's what I'm going to DO...I'm going to paralyze ALL of you with a major winter ice storm and you can sit in your homes for a few days and get to KNOW each other again.
But now...don't get mad....take advantage of this time and make some snow ice cream, tell the kids stories about when YOU grew up decades ago and how different things were then...make a blanket tent with them...teach them Old Maids...and play checkers with them...and you remember Checker's don't you? That's that fun little board game that people used to play when they were a lot more intelligent than some of you folks have become in the last few decades...It's a game where you actually interact with each other and talk and laugh and squeal and this one jumps that one's checker and then you all squeal again because YOUR checker gets jumped and by golly...you didn't even see it COMING....So you laugh and talk about how glad you are that you had this time together...just to have a laugh and sing a song........" and play and re-connect" :-)
And God goes on..."I've been trying to tell you all for a coon's age...but seems like nobody is listening these days. I send you signs that I'm not happy with the way you're doing. I mean GOODNESS...I give you the WORLD and what do you do to show your appreciation?" " You destroy IT and your relationships and your families and your home life...Most of you don't even know what a good and real priority list would LOOK like these days...WHAT is WRONG with you?.."
Weeeeeeeeeeeeelll...this is what "I" am thinking God is thinking! He ALWAYS has MY attention! When I'm in a dither as to what to do about this or that...I ALWAYS ask myself "What would Jesus do?" And let me tell ya....that will solve your problem in a heart beat...at least what YOU need to do about it.
Most of you know me fairly well...and you KNOW when I'm upset about something...the first thing I"D like to do is confront who ever has upset me and say "WHAT were you THINKING?" "WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO do you think you ARE?" But then I have a little talk with Jesus and I say 'Ok...so and so has made me sooooooooooo upset and I'd like to really let them have it...but I need just the right words of wisdom from you so I can knock them flat on their back with their mouths wide open....so whatdaya say....will you give me some words of wisdom?" And Jesus is always there for me Johnny on the spot and He says' "Sure WILL Katydid...let go and let GOD handle it....and FORGET IT....."
Like that issue with my broken leg...remember that blog? I was going to do something on Monday...that I'm sure the Lord didn't want me to do...SO he put me flat on my back to THINK about it...but why in the world didn't He just give me this strong feeling/message of "DON'T YOU DO THAT!" :-) I'm a PRETTY good LISTENER when it comes to God....
(Now this was NOT a family issue :-)
Now it isn't always easy to let things go....in fact it's rarely easy for meeeeeeeeee :-) Because I like to fight my own battles....but if we want to live right....we know the right answer ..don't we? We take our burdens to the Lord and leave them there.....
Well....my internet light is blinking again and geezer isn't up yet. When he gets up he'll go out and clear the ice off of my Hughes Net dish so I'll have internet today....I can do that myself...but not this soon after a broken leg...I have NO INTENTION of leaving this porch...unless it's an emergency...until this snow/ice is gone....I don't need more leg problems...
Geezer and I are having a big time....we've made homemade ice cream and watched cowboys....I've napped quite a bit because I got my blood pressure up...worrying about all our kids on these roads getting to work and back...but we're pretty good at savoring moments and making the best of things....AND..."I'm soooooooooo glad we've had this time....together.....just to have a laugh and sing...a song.
We've cancelled our doctors appointment on Monday and will re-schedule....I have an appointment with Dr Lettuce to check the progress on my bones, and tendons and ligaments...but I seem to be doing just super.....So on Wednesday...Lord willing and weather permits...we plan a pretty big fun day.....
