Summer: It's Almost a Wrap!

Outside our kitchen window and even on the inside of our little love nest in the boonies,

it's a grand and groovy, zippity doo dah day in
Round Knob Canyon this morning ... How are things in your neck of the woods?

GOODNESS this year is zooming by ... isn't it?
I'm ready to slow down to the speed of light and enjoy a little leisure time ... "Wait ... 'Leisure time?  What IS that?"
Kim doesn't know EITHER  :-(

We had a great weekend!  Thank you LORD for your blessings on US!  We've had a hard time gettin' out of town for the last 2 years and when we even think we're about to do something fun these days, we almost hold our breath because we can almost rest assured that something is going to happen to prevent our plans.
And I asked a good friend to fill in on the piano for me at church yesterday, so I didn't have to worry about leaving them without a piano player ...
But we made it and had a blast ... well "a blast Geezer and The Katydid style" ... we're not the loudest and most colorful crayons in the crayon box ... But we had a very relaxing weekend on our 2 day trip and I'll be telling you more about that probably tomorrow in a blog I write after each race that I always call "Profiling People At the Springfield Mile" and boy do I have a story or two for you THIS time ... with photos.
And now some of you that know me are already thinking...."OH my GOODNESS ... WHAT did she get in the middle of THIS time"  :8)  Well you just wait and I'll tell ya all about it tomorrow.

I just went out to feed Sadie and Jerry Garcia at the break of day this morning and then the deer and birds and other critters and we've had a little rain over night and it's overcast with a strong breeze and there's a strong feel of fall in the air.

I'm wanting to put an outdoor camera aimed at my Uncle Remus tree where I feed all my critters because word has it the cougars are back and now even a family of wolves ... And I want to see if they're coming to my feeding tree.  Goodness this area is turning into COWBOY country for goodness sakes alive.

I'm ready for fall this year, it's been a very hectic summer with all the gardening and extra work on this blog.  So it's been even more work than usual for the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer.  But we wanted to take our blog to the next step UP and that was TONS of extra work but it should all be finalized this week ... We're hoping to take our blog to the top of the ladder of success ... and we're getting there ... one rung at a time ... shall we pray.

I woke up yesterday morning in what feels like our very own Comfort Suites in Springfield.  We've been staying there twice a year for about 17 years now.  And even on vacations I still wake up before the chickens ... so I got up in the wee morning hours and logged onto my laptop to check on Joan Rivers condition and the first thing I saw was a post that said Flea Market Gardening had done a story on our gardens.  I WAS SO EXCITED I WOKE UP GEEZER ...
My announcement had evidently missed something in the translation because he wasn't nearly as excited as "I" was ... but he said "Let me get awake here and then you can tell me what's happened...what time is it?"  :-)
"WHAT???  WHAT TIME IS IT?  Fifty years ago you would have said "OH I'm so glad you woke me up early....that gives us a few more hours to spend together today"  But I have this big announcement and you say "WHAT TIME IS IT?"  DOES IT MATTER WHAT TIME IT IS ... When you learn you've been featured in Flea Market Gardening ...  and want to tell those closest to you?"  :-0
Well for goodness sakes!!!

Well I'm not going to keep you long this morning ... most of you probably have plans anyway.  We had hoped to have a little family picnic on the porch but we have 2 kids working today ... so that's out.  Maybe we'll try again over the weekend.

We have a lot coming up in the next week and beyond and here's a peek ahead:
Profiling People at the Springfield Mile
How Old is Old?
The Lost Art of Child's Play
Strolling Down the Path of Life
Women Are Taking Over the Men's World
WHO in the WORLD Do you Think You ARE?
Sunday Meetin' Time

Oh and there will just be tons more ... It's time to start thinking about preparing our old tired garden beds for Spring 2015 ... YUP, sure is almost that time.  IF we prepare our beds a little later this fall ... we'll be in much better shape when the weather breaks after a long hard winter.  And that's what I'm hearing for the heartland ... that we will have a colder and wetter winter than usual ... OH GREAT!!!  Shall we pray ...
And then there's always breaking news that takes priority over a blog that may have been planned for a specific day and we also need to be thinking about using these slower days ahead to get our bodies healthier and we'll talk about that too.
And hey listen ... what's something YOU would like us to talk about?
Just post or send a private message ...

Just remember ... "There is SO MUCH MORE to life than having EVERYTHING!"
And our life is pretty much what we make of it ... always has been ... and always will BE ...
So we're learning together to re-set our priority list ... to hug a little more often and a little tighter ... to say I love you in a gazillion ways ... to help others less fortunate than ourselves and oh my goodness ... so much more...

Peace and love from the canyon ... I love you all gobs and thanks so much ... for stopping by!
