We have a choice of what we want to make of that life.
It can be the absolute pits and everything that can go wrong will go wrong ... almost every day!
Or it can be so
OR you can take your life one day at a time and each day when you get out of bed just start by putting one foot in front of the other one and doing what you can to make that day the very best it can be.
And HEY ... we all know I like to make working into a game ... right? SO we could even make a game of each day to see if we can make our today ... a lot better than our yesterday ... which was pretty magical in itself.
SO let's analyze this theory and see what we can do to make our lives the very best they can be!
With the Hoarder's tv show on just almost all the time these days, we're getting lots of questions about housekeeping and hoarding and people are always wanting updates on Hanna the Hoarder ... But listen ... don't worry about Hanna or the Joneses ... worry about YOU and YOUR family and YOUR household. Let the JONES wonder how YOU keep going like the energizer bunny and always keep things looking up to snuff.
I get so many emails that rave about our gardens and where we live and how things look so nice in all the photo's and how lucky I am. But I call it blessed ... because I have worked and prayed this life into existence and you can do the very same with your life.
Neither the Geezer or I were born with silver spoons in our mouths. We were not handed married life on a silver platter. We neither had rich uncles that we were waiting on to kick the bucket so we could live a storybook life in LaLa Land.
I've said before that I don't know how I could live without my timers. Because we DO stay busy as little beavers just all the time ... day after day after day. But our home and our grounds are our hobby. I even set at least 1 or 2 timers on one of my little tables on the patio when I'm working in the garden because while I'm doing that I've also got the laundry going inside or the oven or something on the stove or in the crock pot ... Or I need to run in and check blog messages so they don't mount too high ... OR I need to quit at a certain time to run an errand.
I don't go shopping for shoes 14 times a week. I have 4 pair of shoes and 2 of those pairs of shoes are tennis shoes ... and then I have a pair of loafers and one pair of high heels which I haven't worn since Sue, Beth and I sang at a cancer benefit in about 2004 or so. ONE pair of the tennis shoes are my gardening shoes. I have TWO FEET and we go virtually no where ... what do I need with a lot of shoes? Same with clothes. I have clothes in my closet that I still wear that are from 1988 and beyond. They are still perfectly good so I see no reason to throw them out and buy new.
AND here we go again with our furniture review. ALL of our furniture is old as the hills. Our couch and love seat and big chair in the living room was bought when Kim was 12 years old and she's 40. Billy built our bedroom suit and even the paneling in that bedroom in 1989. Our bedroom suite upstairs was bought in 1980 ... Our dining room table was handmade in 1974 ... and the beat goes on.
But to get to the subject at hand ... or is it already too late? The most important thing you can do for your home is not to constantly be buying new things FOR it. The most important thing you can do for you home is keep it clean and orderly with what you have 'now'. And a strong warm and fuzzy touch wouldn't hurt anything.
I have what I call my 'dailies'. And I learned about the 'dailies' from the Sidetracked Sisters in the early 1970's. Dailies are things that you just must do each and every day. Pick up liter, make the bed, wash and dry and put all dishes away, sweep and mop, tidy the bathroom, and shine your kitchen and bathroom sinks once their empty and your counter tops are clean.
I LOVE having clean and dry and empty sinks. And I shine my faucets about 6 or 8 times a day. That takes me all of 30 seconds total when I include ALL of those 6 or 8 times. Now WHO doesn't have 30 seconds a day to wipe out their sinks and shine their faucets and dry around their sinks?
When I go in a public restroom ... I don't care how big a hurry I'm in ... that bathroom looks a lot better when I come out after my 2-3 minutes in there than it did when I went in.
Some of these women's restrooms look like the women were raised in a barn. FOR THE LOVE OF PETE!
And around the commode's it so wet and nasty it looks like they hung from the ceiling light and tried to aim to go wee wee ... YUCK!!!
SO I always take a big wad of paper towels and wipe down the sinks real quick and dry the counter tops ... I know that doesn't last long ... but I still know when "I" left there ... it was a little more warm and fuzzy than it was or will be the rest of the day.
Mother Teresa said once: ALWAYS leave everything and everybody ... a little better and a little happier than you found them.
Now truth be told ... I'm not as blabby and chipper as I was before our accident last August when I broke me leg. And we haven't figured out just why yet. hahaha That just took something out of me and I hope and pray I can get my old hyper goofy self back and very soon ... because even "I" ... miss the old me :8) HOWEVER it did NOT deter my love of clean and tidy and I may hobble like old Chester on Gunsmoke 4 days out of 7 ... or 5 hours out of 24 ... but I get my jobs done...
Just look at this photo below. Now WHO IN THE WORLD could live in a house with a kitchen like this? You can put on all the expensive clothes and make up you want and you can do whatever you want to with your jewelry and hairstyle ... but no one should let their home get in this kind of mess.
Feminine is clean and neat and tidy ... NOT expensive clothing and foo foo.And if you want to live a storybook life in LaLa Land ... and who doesn't? Then you just have to sit down and make yourself a good priority list and get it going ... because any body can have a storybook life in LaLa land on any budget.
I wrote my very own fairy tale with prayer and elbow grease ... and you can do the very same!
Well...that's it from the canyon today. Peace and love and I love you all gobs.
