The 1st Anniversary of Our Motorcycle Crash

This was the day we bought our first Honda in late 90's.
Well, yesterday was the first anniversary of our motorcycle crash.
There were days here and there after that crash that I didn't think I'd even BE here to talk about the 1st anniversary of that crash.
Because the complications from my injury and even complications from medications after surgery ... just about ... did me in.

It was last August 11th at 2:10 pm and we had just pulled out from one of the worst

meals we had ever had on our Sunday Geezer after church lunch ride and we were heading out of town for the scenic route 'somewhere' and then to wind down our Sunday ride in a Dairy Queen somewhere ... just like we always ended every ride ... getting home just in time for this old church lady to get back to church Sunday evening.

We had eaten in Herrin, Illinois at a little hamburger place that someone had told one of our old geezers was a super little diner and oh how we love little quaint diners ... but we had sure been led astray on this one.
It was a little burger place on the right as you go into Herrin and we were a little leery when we pulled in and saw it ... but we had been in some little diners that looked a little worse than this and found a heavenly atmosphere and food inside.  But that wasn't the case on this one.  Had we gone on down the street just a short ways and eaten at The Annex ... we would have had one of the BEST lunches we've ever had on a Sunday ride AND some of the most romantic ambiance you'll ever find ... COMPLETE with old 1940s love songs playing softly in the back ground.

I spent 13 weeks flat on my back after that wreck.  Now the bones healed in record time just like they expected them too ... but there was so much damage to my tendons and ligaments that it ended up being a roller coaster ride to get them healed and get me back on my feet.  They said if I put weight on the foot too soon, I'd do even more damage and at my age my best bet was just to sit down and stay there until every single thing was completely healed. AT MY AGE???????  Before this crash ... I could have run circles around any THREE 30 year olds more than half my age ...

But I'll tell you right up front.  I LOVE to act like a clown and be goofy a lot of the time and play pranks of those closest to me and this and that ... but this old crash just really took the wind out of my clown boat sails.  And I'm STILL not goofy and hyper like I was before this crash.
IN FACT ... I'll find myself at church ... which is about the only place I go except the grocery ... and even at home ... just kind of in a daze and so quiet and then I'll think to myself ... "HEY KATY ... WHERE DID THE GOOF BALL GO?"   :-(

I want so bad to get back to the hyper and goofy old girl I was before August 11th, 2013 ... but the re-coop in my mind is going a little slow.

HOWEVER ... I had some of the best pampering and loving care during that 13 weeks that anyone could ever hope to have.  This old geezer slept on the couch with me for 5 weeks and never even hinted that he wanted to go to the bedroom when night came.  And he'd say "Now if I don't hear the alarm when it's time for your 2am meds, you yell and wake me up.  And he cooked and cleaned and changed my bandages and just couldn't have been more attentive.
I told him many times during that 13 weeks ... that the injury was almost worth it ... to get the pampering I got.

Well I was going to reminisce more about this ... but we've just gotten word that Geezer's Aunt Margie Sutton has had a stroke and is in a St Louis Hospital, so we need to head that way.  PLEASE be in prayer for Margie ... We just LOVE Margie... Peace and love and everybody take their blood pressure meds on time and take an aspirin a day...
